Practicing Physical Wellness can lead to:
Increased Energy
Physical activity encourages better overall health and expendable energy throughout the day.
Prevention
Practicing safe sex, avoiding substance misuse, and regularly creating a sleeping routine can help to prevent illness and disease.
Emotional Regulation:
Taking care of your body can support good mental and emotional functioning.
Key Components of Physical Wellness
Physical Wellness entails many different components that can allow you to perform daily functions while also incorporating prevention measures. Here are a few ideas you can use to practice physical wellness:
- Incorporate a diet that involves fruits and vegetables along with at least 8 cups of water a day
- Aim for a regular sleep schedule with about 7-9 hours of sleep
- Create a regular hygiene routine and cleaning schedule
- Educate yourself on substance misuse and create a buddy system
- Regularly get check-ups for STIs and educate yourself on prevention and contraception methods. Remember that you can pick up free STD prevention barriers, such as condoms, from the William Magee Center and Student Health Services.
