Director - William Magee Center for AOD and Wellness Education
Dr. Nick McAfee serves as the Director of the William Magee Center for AOD and Wellness Education. Prior to his role as Director, Dr. McAfee served as the Director of the Student Counseling and Wellness Center and as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. McAfee is a licensed psychologist and holds a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. He has a research and clinical background in assessment and treatment for substance use disorders, problem gambling, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Dr. McAfee has considerable experience in delivering and training other healthcare providers in motivational interviewing as a method to facilitate positive behavior change. Most recently, he has conducted research on college student well-being, mental health, and how these factors affect student retention. Dr. McAfee lives in Oxford with his wife, Sadara, their dog Charlie and two cats, Queso and Gertie. He enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and sampling all the great food Oxford has to offer.
